The Project

The VieWDB project aims to create an advanced visualization system of the data stored in a large virological-clinical DB, based on a cloud computing platform.

This system will strongly improve the data usabilitya in terms of funded and co-financed research which will be the basis for new research services of the 4RED StartUp.

Background

​

Starting in the late 1990s, particularly with the stimulus of major global investments in the fight against AIDS, the establishment of large databases of clinical and virological data related to the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) began around the world. These databases represent valuable cognitive tools and have continued to be nurtured at an increasingly rapid pace over the past two decades. Today they are considered an essential research tool in the field of antiretroviral therapies both for the creation of predictive models of response to therapy and for retrospective "in real practice" studies and for clinical practice studies.

 

The project intends to use a specific database currently in use in virological research on HIV: EuResist Integrated Database EIDB (http://engine.euresist.org/database/), probably the largest existing database in the world for the study of resistance to antiretroviral drugs.
